The Black Dragon Strider SMF knife is back in stock on AliExpress!
This version has the waved full flamed Ti handle, Ti backspacer, steel insert on the frame and a blackwashed D2 nightmare grind blade.
So, lots of differences from the standart version.

The Wild Boar ones come from a senior and trusted seller Dong Cheng, who sold on AliExpress, but had to move to DHGate because of the Ali knife laws.
These come as Gunner Grip and plain G10 versions and have very good quality for the money.

The frame is made from titanium and has the Hinderer lock stabilizer.

New Spyderco Style Knives on AliExpress - Try the designs for an affordable price!

AliExpress has some cool new Spyderco clones.
Most of them are concentrated in only one shop - the WLF.

I have bought from this store and can testify they give good service and have excellent prices.
They specialize in budget clones (<40$) and keep good stock of those.
The new and back in stock Spyderco models include - Firefly, Native, Police and Schempp Bowie.
They also have a budget Ti LionSpy, but the reviews of it haven't been great (quality wise).

Sanrenmu WA721-A1 WA731-A1 Army Knives - Good budget alternative to SAK?

Army knives are one of the most popular folding knives out there, especially with non-knife people.
The market is pretty much owned by SAK - Victorinox Swiss Army Knives, especially since they took over Wenger.
But other companies also want a piece of that pie, one of them is Boker Plus with their tech tool. The key differences between it and the SAK is the added pocket clip, glassbreaker, G10 handles and a wider blade made from Sandvik 12C27. These knives were OEMed by Sanrenmu in China and are sold for much less under the Sanrenmu brand.

RealSteel Knives - Real Steel, Real Brand, Real Quality knife (and it's relations to Sanrenmu and Carson)!

Today I want to tell you about Realsteel knives.
The brand was created in 2013 by the same people who brought you Sanrenmu knives.
Those folks saw the factory, that produced good quality OEM knives for American companies and cheap, but well made budget "original" design knives and thoughty it could be something bigger.
At first, they based on the same designers, that produced Sanrenmu original knives, the most known of them is Liang Gang, that designed some of SRM's best known models. That is the reason that some of RealSteel's designs look a lot like the Sanrenmu models (probably are the same, but with different branding).
Their breakthrough (in my opinion) came when they started working with Huang Liang Zhi, better known by the name Carson (Tech Labs). His designs were well known to the people who are interested in Chinese knives, but the quality of his knives is incredible, and second to none (maybe except some of Kevin John work).
Together they made an aluminium version of the Carson Griffin and also released his boiling flipper design under the name Megalodon (probably just put RealSteel logo on the Carson made knife).
There has been some conspiracy on YouTube lately, claiming that Carson has sold his knifemaking factory to RealSteel, but that information was proven to be wrong and was just speculation of one specific Youtuber with big imagination. Carson himself took a photo with his knives to prove this wrong.

Michael Zieba Knives G2 Style Front Flipper Knife Clone - New version and "ZDP-189" steel tested!

Michael Zieba is a knifemaker and all-around craftsman from Poland, now residing and working in Brooklyn NY. Before knifemaking, his most significant work was finishing and polishing the golden Oscar statues, that are given at the Academy Awards ceremonies for achievements in film-making. These days he primarily makes custom folders and kitchen knives.
Not long time ago a friend of his, a Polish knife designer named Ostap Hel, designed a knife, a gentleman's friction folder with very slim and slick lines. He wanted to collaborate with Michael on the production, but it didn't work out. Michael reworked the knife into a front-flipping frame lock and released it under the name of the G2 folder.
The knife was reviewed by Jim Skelton and of course wasn't skipped by his Chinese subscribers (in this case - CH Knives).
Long story short - the G2 clone was born. It received very positive reviews from the clone reviewers, that liked the action, unusual opening method, overall style and finish.
Interesting story about this knife is about the claimed steel (ZDP-189). A lot of sellers and dealers said this is a genuine ZDP-189 from Japan, while others argued that is impossible, because that steel is still a military secret in Japan, thus cannot be exported as a raw material. The low price of the clone was also a valuable argument against ZDP. Finally, Yeti521454 (Russian YouTube channel owner) sent his clone to a test, and it revealed a Chinese CW6Mo5Cr4V2 (M2 equivalent), which is a great steel, but not ZDP-189.

Stedemon Knife Company (including ZKC, Maxace) - Ambitious knives, awesome quality!

Stedemon Knife Company have been around for quite some time.
Different from many other Chinese knife companies, they didn't start from making clones, but produced their own original (and pretty special) designs from the start, and they keep doing it till now.
They specialize on CNC'd titanium for their premium models, aluminium for the mid-range and G10 for their budget line. Their designs seem to have that really clean, classic look that many of the knife fans like, and it's apparent the designers really know what they are doing.
The names of  many of their models usually have a marine theme (Deep Sea Monster, Deep Sea Giant).
Recently, 2 more subsidiaries of the Stedemon have emerged. First is Maxace, which are quite similar to the Stedemon in the overall feel and materials used, but are believed to be designed by different designers and made in another factory (with the same, if not better quality levels). Another, newer one is ZKC (Zone Knife Company) Knives, which, as they claim on the pocket clip, are designed by Stedemon and are made in the same factory, but under different brand.
Stedemon Knives have recently moved to the American market and their knives have almost completely disappeared from AliExpress and DHGate, but can be still found in the excellent Vespa store (former ChinaHighEndEDC).

LW Knives Apachi AH-64 Integral M390 Knife - New level of Chinese manufacturing!

This is a new offering from LW knives, that has been around for a while, making mostly fixed blades.
There are 2 things that are special about this one:
1. It's an integral knife - this means the handle is milled from a single piece of titanium. Because of all the waste and the craftsmanship needed to make it well, it is often considered the most premium knife handle construction. Another advantage is the lack of extra bolts and added strength to the handle.

2. This knife has a real M390 blade - which is a favorite steel for many knife collectors. Because it keeps it's edge very well, but is pretty prone to corrosion it is considered a Super Steel. This is not the first time M390 is used in a Chinese knife, but it symbolizes a trend in the Chinese knife world and my guess is we will see this steel more and more on Chinese knives.
Other than that, the knife features single row ceramic bearings, steel insert on the frame, cool grind on the horizontal satin blade, interesting finish on the handle and custom pivot screw (comes with the designated key).

The New Fidget Cube - The next big thing after the fidget spinners?

The EDC fidget trend has really boomed up recently.
The fidget toys help us relax, relieve stress and to play with something in our hands while we think.
After the watches, the pens, the knives and the knucks (that had other purpose in addition to fidgeting), came the EDC tops (didn't really stick) and the fidget spinners, which were specifically designed for fidgeting, but had only one action to do.

Now, there is a new thing - the Fidget Cube!
It has 6 sides, each one specially designed for other kind of action, that can really supply all your hand-playing needs.
The big advantage of it is the price - few times less than the least expensive spinner.
The designers also provided quiet fidgeting options, so you won't annoy your loved ones, co-workers and classmates.
All the features are shown and explained in the Item Description section.

Kevin John New Small Sebenza Regular With Wood and CF Inlays - This is how you disproof rumors!

There has been a little speculation lately about Kevin John. A provocative video has been released on YouTube suggesting Kevin John and Carson have sold their knife-manufacturing businesses and moved to other things, explained by the quality drops of their products.
Carson answered by publishing a photo of him with his knives, thus dis proofing the video and it's sources. Kevin John answered in actions - he just released new knives - the M390 Venom, Venom New Concept and also a couple of clone Sebenzas.
I think everyone in the Chinese knife community are glad that the info given in the video proved to be false and both of these great makers will continue to cheer us with their awesome knives.
And about the Sebenza - the same awesome quality, great materials and no logo clone of the discontinued model with a change in design - in the best Kevin John traditions.

CKF (Custom Knife Factory) - A love story between Russian design and Chinese high-end knife-making!

CKF (Custom Knife Factory) has been around for a while.
The Russian based company was established in 2012 by Mikhail Kulygin (Mike), a Russian Chinese knife dealer at the time. He was well known at the time by his nickname Kevin John on Guns.ru (one of the biggest Russian knife forum).
The nickname wasn't a coincidence - Mike was then one of the leading sellers (and some say even producers) of Kevin John made clones in Russia, mostly Sebenza, Strider and Hinderer knives, that had huge success. He learned to appreciate the level of craftsmanship, precision and QC that KJ provided, and wanted to bring it to the international knife market.
It all started with the Assymetric project, when a few forum members came together to make a production version of the awesome Alexey Konygin design. They turned to Kevin John to manufacture the knife and the project was very successful.
After that, he contacted with Russian designers - Alexey "Ratatuy" Konygin, Evg Muan and Anton "Tohus" Malyshev and they decided to collaborate with the new company - CKF.

The company's first knife was the amazing Decepticon 1, that was featured on the Knife Brand Maker (Jim Skelton's) channel, and the rest is history. They became so popular, that even nutnfancy agreed to show the knives on his channel.
CKF models are numbered limited production pieces, so they tend to sell out very quickly and usually keep their value over time. One of their latest creations is the Muscle (a collaboration with French knife designer Tashi Bharucha), my personal favorite knife from CKF so far.
Producing the knives in China also has it's drawbacks - some of their designs were "borrowed" even before they reached production and made by Chinese clonemakers. This happened with the Gnome, Assymetric fixed blade, T50 (later released as T90 by CKF) and the Medichi project (now known as Piston knife), that was cancelled because of the case.
I believe CKF will continue to cheer our eyes and hands with exclusive, quality models and I wish them all the best.

Boker+ Lucas Burnley Kwaiken Style Knife - A long waited clone is finally here!

A lot of people have been waiting for this model to come up on AliExpress.
As in the recent times, our Chinese friends do not disappoint and deliver the goods.
BTW - is it just me, or it seems that any model that is made in China by the knife companies, finds it's way to the clone market. Coincidence? I don't think so...
Anyway, back to the knife - it will come in black and desert tan G10, steel liners (good they didn't put titanium liners, then the knife would cost more and probably develop blade play), IKBS (probably just ball bearings) and a stonewashed "VG10" blade (probably 9Cr18MoV/440C).

Anyway, the knife looks very good, especially for the price, and it's a no-brainer for me to order this one.

*Edit: this version seems to be sold out, but there is a new G10 version of the Kwaiken, which might be even better in terms of weight and balance.

The Ganzo G302B Medium to Heavy Duty Multitool - The best budget Leatherman alternative?

When we hear the word "multitool", most of us automatically think about Leatherman, and there is a good reason for that - they are the most innovative company in the business. SOG and Gerber tried (and still try) to compete, but they don't really put up a good fight.
Leatherman tools have great quality, innovation, engineering and one of the best customer services, but lack of real competition drove their prices up and sometimes they just seem too high for a tool, that is supposed to do real work.

Not so long ago a new player entered the scene - the Ganzo Knives and Tools company. They earned their respect in the knife work with great quality and value and they took the same ethics to their tool making. The 302B is the flagship of their tool lineup and has some great features, that make it a true Leatherman competitor - all locking tools, bits and sheath as standard, spring pliers and replaceable cutters and all that with a  ~$35 price tag!
I own one, and I am very pleased with it.

Titanium Bead with Tritium Vial + Tritium Lanterns - Make your gear visible in the dark!

Just another cool item I found on AliExpress - a TC4 titanium milled bead, that has a tritium vial inside, making it visible in a complete darkness.

Tritium is unique as a light source, because it doesn't accumulate light (like other luminophore, that stores light and then emits it for a limited period of time, this can be found on a lot of watches), but is itself the source of light, that emits light all the time and can last up to 25 years.

Reate Knives - From A Dai Clone Making to Todd Begg Steelcraft Series Manufacturing!

The story of the Chinese knife brand Reate is a real modern Cinderella story of the knife world.
It all started from a small Chinese knife manufacturer called A Dai, who produced high end clones of popular brands - GTC, ZT 0888, F95 and others.
It's most known model was the A Dai 0999, which is an unaccredited copy of Dmitri Sinkevich's design The Koordinal, that was first made by Shirogorov and later became the ZT 045X series of knives from Zero Tolerance.
A Dai Knives had exceptional value and great quality of production, exceeded maybe only by Kevin John, and they became noticed and appreciated in the Chinese knife world.
In order to move to the big playground (which is the US market), they needed a change, they couldn't just go there as the clone maker A Dai, whose knives are being sold on AliExpress. So David Deng (the owner of the Reate brand) re-branded the company into Reate.
Another smart move he did - was sending a knife to Jim Skelton (the maker of brands), who showed the Horizon model on his channel, built up the appetite - and it took off from there.
Reate kept their production levels high and their designs original, so success and fame came shortly.
They also started to produce knives for Liong Mah. And soon they hit the bulls-eye - Reate were trusted by Todd Begg (and his brother Mark) to manufacture the production versions of Begg's knives - the Todd Begg Steelcraft series. This is a dream-come-true contract for any knife manufacturer, not to say for a Chinese one. And they did a hell of a job with the series!I think Reate have established themselves as one of the leading high end production knife manufacturers, and I see nothing but a bright future for them.

Kevin John Venom New Concept Knife - Same great KJ quality, with a new and exciting design!

Kevin John is, for quite some time, a symbol of quality, craftsmanship and quality control in the knife world. The expression "Triumph  Precision" is rightfully a part of the name of their company.
They made a name for themselves by making very high end clones, some on the same level as the originals, some are now being sold for more than the originals, because of their rarity.  But they soon turned to making their own designs and released the Venom series - Venom 1, 2 and Attacker.

Now comes a new knife in the same series of Venoms - the New Concept. This one has all of the great features, that we learned to love about KJ knives - milled Ti handles, great grind on the S35VN blade and smooth ball bearings, but also some new ones - hand-rubbed horizontal satin on the blade, ceramic ball pocket clip and the lock stabilizer system (similar to the one on Carson Exorcist), which make the new knife extremely valuable and interesting.

Rexford Z T 0801 CF Style Knife Clone: Limited edition - no such thing in China!

Limited editions in my opinion are the illness of the knife world.

When companies do them, they are saying - we are making 100 pieces of this knife, but we have announced it before and brought the hype up (by sending it to YouTubers and bloggers), so now many people want them - and if you want one - you better buy now and pay a lot. Just pushing those sensitive collector's buttons saying - you are going to be sorry when this hits the secondary market, because then you'll pay twice as much.

I even have a theory, that some of the knives are not sold instantly through dealers, but are kept by the companies, their employees or some cooperating dealers and the whole "sold out" thing is just part of the hype. When the prices go up on the secondary market - they just sell the remaining pieces and make even more money on each knife.

ZT0801CF was just one of those knives. It had amazing bronzed finish, CF inlays and cutout on the middle of the handle that made it look awesome! Too bad it was sold out, and many of us didn't have a chance to own it...
Good thing there is no such thing as limited edition in China!
And it was of course Ben from Ben's Shop who made this happen.

Shirogorov Style Small Titanium Keychain Legal Knife - Smallest Shirogorov style knife that can fit anywhere!

If there is something missing in the Shirogorov Knives lineup - it is a small keychain blade, that you can take anywhere and is legal everywhere.
The Chinese makers filled the void and made just that - small, non locking titanium keychain knife, in the shape of the F95.
The knife also has stonewashed blade and anodized blue hardware.
Although they left the flipper tab - it can be opened two-handed with a nail neck.

Boker + Kwaiken Style Update - High end CF and Titanium models are in!

Ever  since I saw, that the Chinese knife manufacturers released the replica of the Boker Lucas Burnley designed Kwaiken - I was waiting for the high end models, with upgraded materials to follow them.
As in the recent times - the Chinese do not disappoint, and it was of course my good friend Ben from Ben's Shop, who delivered the goods!

This model, doesn't only has the premium material choice - Titanium or Carbon Fiber (which is significantly lighter, but it also has milled steel liners, making it a lot lighter than the G10 version, and thus - better to carry.

Kobun Style Self Defence Fixed Blade - Light and agile budget knife for the modern warrior!

One of my favorite fixed blade styles has finally made it to AliExpress.
What I like most about this one is that it is a purely tactical, lighter and more agile than the robust Recon Tanto, while keeping most of that strength and toughness.
If you ask any of the CQC (Close Quarter Combat) experts, which blade suits them best, they will answer, that there are not many blades that will fit better than the Kobun.
The knife also has a belly on the cutting edge - so it will also perform during a utility task.
It comes with a molded plastic sheath, molded rubber handle and that crazy tanto style grind, that a lot of knife lovers dig.
Great budget option for an urban tactical fixed blade, especially as a gift for those who serve!

Kizer Cutlery Knives - Designed in the USA, manufactured in China!

Kizer Cutlery has become a well-known name for a lot of knife lovers.
The company, which evolved from a knife factory in China, into a brand, that sells knives worldwide, has grown rapidly in the course of the recent year, and there are a few reasons for that.

First of all there is the value - Kizer Knives have been one of the first, who managed to deliver the level of quality and materials, that was typical only to high end clones at the time (and that is not a coincidence), while keeping a relatively low price for the end product. Later they also introduced the Vanguard series, which is even cheaper, because it uses lower grade materials, but keeps the level of quality high.
Kizer uses CNC Machining and Wire EDM cutting to make their knives.

Another reason is the design - when they started, they had original in-house design, which was heavily influenced by other knives, but didn't copy one knife, thus couldn't be called a clone. Later, after Kizer gained recognition because of their quality - they started doing something smart and unique - collaborate with USA custom makers and knife designers. Until that time, makers worked only with big time brands like ZT, Kershaw, Boker + , Benchmade, Spyderco and others. If you didn't work with them - you didn't work at all.
But Kizer managed to change that. Today we can see Kizer models designed by Matt Cucchiara, Ray Laconico, John Gray, Dirk Pinkerton, Mikkel Willumsen, Glen Klecker and others.

Also, they managed to be the company that introduced the most models in one year.
From budget blades to high end Bladesmith series, they have done almost all.
Their CEO even said that they will cut on the model line, leaving only the most successful ones.

Anyway - I like what this company is doing and appreciate their attention to details and to the knife lover's choices and wishes. They managed to bring custom designs for an affordable price, and were one of the first to do so. I wish them the best of luck and hope they will continue to cheer us up with their models.

Microtech Star Lord Flipper Style Knife - Titanium Frame-Lock Flipper, Daido D2 Steel + Keys for screws with every order!

Another great knife from Ben's shop - the Microtech Star Lord Clone.
People who own it, report that the quality of craftsmanship, fit and finish is on par with some of the best (including Kevin John). Along with the excellent Daido (Japanese) D2 steel, this just might be the next hall-of-famer.
The best part of it - you will get the key for the proprietary screws with very purchase, so you cold take yous apart, clean it and tweak it, and not have to buy original keys from Microtech almost at the price of this whole knife! Come on Microtech, can't you include a set of keys for 1625$?!

Anyway - the knife can be found here: http://goo.gl/EhYjNr

New High-End Chinese Knife Brand - Viteli Knives Top1 Titanium Flipper - CKF Style on a budget!

CKF (Custom Knife Factory) have really made an impact in the knife world.
Suddenly, original design and great quality became important and very cool, even if the knife itself was (partly) made in China.

The thing I like about the Chinese knife makers is that they really try to keep up with the trends in the knife world, they study the market through people's likes and choices, and for what they lack in originality - they compensate in great materials and quality for the money.
From these principals (just like Kevin John, MG Knives, Vespa and Green Thorn) - the Viteli knife brand was born.
This is a cocktail of different design features from different makers, that were tastefully put together to form a great looking knife. Add to this the standard high-end Chinese knife package (S35VN stonewashed blade, steel insert\overtravel stopper on the frame, milled titanium handles, ceramic ball bearings and milled Ti pocket clip) and you have a winning formula.

Check out the knife here: https://goo.gl/CPAbkr
