CIMA 1 Survival Knife Review - Sheath Happens!

This time it's the turn of one of the most popular budget knives out there - the CIMA 1.

First impressions:

The knife arrived in a CIMA branded cardboard box.
Out of the box it was reasonably sharp, but had a few issued with the sheath - it had some scratches on it (even a small crack) and had pretty bad retention.
Plus I really hated the clip CIMA 1 came with (springy steel clip) - it made the knife heavy and uncomfortable.
So I took it off and put a tek lok on it (the key was to use the long screws of the original clip).
Plus I glued a piece of rubber inside to fix the retention.
The knife felt much better after that.

Measurements:
- Blade length: 3.85"/9.8 cm.
- Cutting edge: 3.75"/9.5 cm

- Total length: 8.26"/21 cm
- Weight with the sheath: 10 oz/284 g
- Weight without the sheath: 7.26 oz/206.6 g

Cons:
1. The condition of the sheath and the clip it came with.
2. Pretty thick grind and uneven sharpening.

3. 7Cr17MoV steel.

4. The CIMA 1 is relatively heavy for the size and the balance is off.
5. The design was borrowed from ESEE/ONTARIO RAT series.

Pros:
1. Genuine Micarta handle - best quality and a reason to buy this knife.
Micarta handle is pleasant to touch and provides great grip (even when the hand is wet).
It also absorbs moisture.
2. The looks - are great IMO (kudos to ESEE).3. Awesome ergos, including the gimping and the finger choil.
4. The blade coating is quite durable (not cheap paint).
5. Full tang construction with a skull crusher/window breaker at the end.
6. Price.

Summary:
I admit I expected more from this knife. Maybe I just got a lemon.
But still - I think the CIMA 1 is worth the price (after the improvements to the sheath) as it will perform and you wouldn't feel sorry for it.
Plus that micarta handle is awesome.

Harnds Talisman Knife - Finally a Ganzo Knives Rival?

Ganzo Knives are (rightfully) ruling the budget knife segment as of now, and there is one reason for that IMO - value. They may not be the cheapest (Sanrenmu) or the perfect quality ones, but their value is undisputed. And yeah, they put their own logo on the blades and try to make a design a little different, so that plays in their favor.
But now there is a new kid on the block. Harnds have been around for a while, but never did anything that will step them up from other budget blades (Enlan, Inron, Tonife, etc), until now.
They actually took the time and designed a flipper knife from scratch, that features rounded G10 handles, ball bearings in the pivot and AUS-8 on the blade. I also appreciate their honesty (cause they didn't just put D2 mark, like many do these days), and if they heat treated it right, it can perform very well.
Anyway, I just ordered one from GearBest (they are having a flash sale for only $27.99), and will do a review when it will reach me.

Lionsteel KUR Clone EDC Flipper Knife - Awesome EDC blade with 4 G10 color options!

A great new offering from the Chinese clonemakers  - the Lionsteel KUR clone.
While they (still) didn't make a copy of the color-changing aluminum handle, they did produce the more budget 4 color G10 alternative, which will give you  taste of the great Lionsteel design.
The knife features a liner-lock, ball bearings in the pivot, a flipper tab as the primary deployment method, mystery steel on the blade (probably 9Cr18) and a deep carry wire clip.
At the price point of ~$40 this could serve as an awesome budget EDC blade.

Clone Killers - Best value knives, that can compete with the Clones in the quality for the price ratio!

It's already a known fact that the Chinese clone knives hold the best value in the knife world.
I mean, just looking at the Green Thorn F95T and Hati - you can't find better value (or even remotely similar) in the genuine knife world. In that world - a ti handled flipper with ceramic double row bearings, with the same level of fit and finish can't cost less than $300. 
But some knife companies have already realized that, and are putting out knives that can compete with the clones in their home field - bang for the buck.
